Ok so I totally stole this off of Kevin Stinehart's blog, but it was so compelling that I had to post it here.
Lately Rich and I have been toying with the idea of getting a big screen t.v., something that we don't need, but would be fun to have. The discussion of getting the t.v. always leads to a discussion of "if we had more money then we could..." when in reality we are richer than 98% of the world's population. Now we don't make a whole lot of money, especially because we are a one income family, but it was very humbling to me to see just how rich and blessed we truly have been.
So how rich are you? www.globalrichlist.com I think you'll gain a new perspective on just how blessed we all really are.
Here are some staggering statistics:
- $8 could buy you 15 organic apples OR 25 fruit trees for farmers in Honduras to grow and sell fruit at their local market.
- $30 could buy you an ER DVD Boxset OR a First Aid kit for a village in Haiti.
- $73 could buy you a new mobile phone OR a new mobile health clinic to care for AIDS orphans in Uganda.
- $2400 could buy you a second generation High Definition TV OR schooling for an entire generation of school children in an Angolan village.

Yes, and do we really 'need' any of those things? What we really need is MORE OR JESUS in our hearts and in our lives. How thankful we are for the blessings God has given us...for love, for family, for life itself...and for the knowing that for all of Eternity we will be with Him.
God Bless, GGMA F.
